Moorish Dancers Series

When cleaning out some old photographs, I came across pictures of a series of pastel painting I did of Moorish Dancers in 1998. The dancers are symbols of Munich, Germany. They represent dancers that went into the streets celebrating the end of the plague. I have a set of ten wooden figures each is about five inches high. These were models I used to do the series. The wooden figures come from Oberamergau, Germany. One may be familiar with this town because of the Passion Play which is only given every ten years and the home of Linderhof Castle one of Lugwig II's. His most famous is the Neuschanstein Castle which is the model for the one at Disney World. The dancer on the right is called Prophet. Each dancer has a name. To see all the dancers paintings you can click on "Moorish Dancers" on the right hand side of the blog. After I completed a few of these paintings, I took them to the Heaven Blue Rose gallery in Roswell, GA. A client purchased the few I had on display and commissioned me to complete the series. These ten pastel painting are hanging in his dining room. Wow what a deal! The images are 8.5" x 12.5" and are framed 20"x 24". I hope you enjoy.
